Nagamachi was once the residential district of the samurai class during the Edo period, situated in Kanazawa, Japan. The area exudes a historical atmosphere with its remaining samurai residences, earthen walls, private entrance gates, narrow lanes, and water canals. Visitors can explore the Nomura Clan Samurai House, a restored samurai residence displaying the lifestyle and artifacts of the era. The house features beautiful gardens and rooms with tatami mats, fusuma doors, and antique furniture. Aside from the Nomura residence, the district accommodates several small museums and historical sites. The cobblestone streets lead to the Shinise Memorial Hall and the Kanazawa Shinise Kinenkan Museum, giving insights into the commerce and crafts of the samurai era. Nagamachi also hosts charming tea shops and local artisan stores that contribute to the district's traditional Japanese ambiance. At dusk, the area becomes particularly picturesque as lanterns gently illuminate the paths, offering a truly immersive Edo-period experience.
