Nagasaki Peace Park is a poignant site located in Nagasaki, Japan, that commemorates the devastating atomic bombing on August 9, 1945. The park was established near the hypocenter of the blast and serves as a place of contemplation and remembrance for the victims of the nuclear attack during World War II. Notable features of the park include the Peace Statue designed by Seibo Kitamura, which symbolizes the divine benevolence and enduring peace. The right hand of the statue points to the threat of nuclear weapons, while the left hand symbolizes eternal peace. The park also hosts the Fountain of Peace and the Flame of Peace, which will be extinguished only when all nuclear bombs on the planet are destroyed. Surrounding the park, The Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum and the National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims offer educational experiences about the bombing and its aftermath. Thousands of peace-related monuments from around the world can be found here, donated by numerous countries.
