Best Time to Visit Nongkhyllem Wildlife Sanctuary

The Nongkhyllem Wildlife Sanctuary is a beautiful and pristine natural habitat located near Nongpoh in the Indian state of Meghalaya. It provides an excellent opportunity for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers to explore the diverse flora and fauna of the region. The ideal time to visit the sanctuary is between the months of November and April. During this period, the weather is pleasant, with minimal rainfall, allowing for easier exploration of the sanctuary's trails and improved chances of sighting animals. Moreover, the humidity is comparatively lower and the clear skies provide excellent conditions for nature photography.

Visitors are particularly encouraged to avoid the monsoon season, which runs from May to October, as the region experiences heavy rainfall, making the terrain slippery and the trails potentially dangerous. However, the post-monsoon period can offer a unique charm with lush greenery and vibrant ecosystems rejuvenated by the rain. For birdwatchers, the months of December to February mark the peak season for birding, as migratory birds flock to the sanctuary. Therefore, planning your visit in accordance with the specific aspects of nature you wish to experience is recommended for the most rewarding experience at the Nongkhyllem Wildlife Sanctuary.
