Pamukkale, known as 'Cotton Castle' in Turkish, is a natural wonder characterized by white terraces of carbonate minerals left by flowing water. Situated in southwestern Turkey near the city of Denizli, Pamukkale's thermal pools are famous for their stunning appearance and therapeutic properties. These travertine terraced hot springs have been used since ancient times, with the thermal waters flowing through the natural pools at temperatures around 35 °C. The site includes the ancient Greco-Roman and Byzantine city of Hierapolis, which was built on top of the white 'castle,' further enhancing the historical significance of this unique location. Visitors can walk barefoot in the shallow waters along the terraces, enjoy the scenic views, and immerse themselves in the ancient ruins of Hierapolis, including a well-preserved theater and necropolis. The area's rich mineral content has contributed to the remarkable landscape that attracts tourists from around the globe and is now protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
