Pocharam Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Nizamabad and Medak districts of Telangana, India. Spread over 130 square kilometers, it was once the hunting grounds of the Nizam of Hyderabad and was established as a sanctuary in the year 1952. Named after the Pocharam Lake which flows through the sanctuary, this wildlife habitat is home to various species of animals and birds. The sanctuary features a rich biodiversity that includes fauna such as leopard, forest cat, wild dog, wolf, jackal, sloth bear, sambar, nilgai, and chital. The region's vegetation is tropical dry deciduous with a mix of teak, bamboo, and other varieties of trees and shrubs, providing excellent habitat for wildlife. With a watchtower in the sanctuary, visitors can view animals in their natural habitat. It is an ideal destination for wildlife enthusiasts, photographers, and nature lovers.
