Pura Taman Saraswati, also known as the Saraswati Water Temple, is a significant Hindu temple in Ubud, Bali, Indonesia. Dedicated to Saraswati, the Hindu deity of learning, knowledge, and arts, this temple is renowned for its classical Balinese temple architecture and the beautiful lotus pond that precedes the temple entrance. The temple was designed by I Gusti Nyoman Lempad and commissioned by the royal family of Ubud. It features traditional Balinese carvings and exquisite wall reliefs depicting scenes from the Ramayana. Visitors are greeted by the serene ambience of the pond, which is often covered with pink lotus blooms, adding to the temple’s tranquil and sacred atmosphere. The main temple gate, or paduraksa, is an ornate structure leading to the inner sanctum where religious ceremonies are held. Pura Tamar Saraswati is not only a place of spiritual importance but also a cultural one, as it hosts traditional dance performances on its open stage with the pond and temple as a backdrop by night, reflecting the temple's lights and creating a mystical scene.
