Ratargul Swamp Forest is a freshwater swamp forest located in the Gowainghat area of Sylhet, Bangladesh. It is one of the few swamp forests in the world and the only one in Bangladesh. Spanning approximately 3,325 acres, this wetland ecosystem is situated by the river Goain and linked with the canal Chengir Khal. Ratargul is renowned for its diverse flora and fauna. The forest is inundated under 20 to 30 feet of water during the monsoon season, which gives it an evergreen look and serves as a sanctuary for aquatic plants and animals. Visitors can explore the forest by renting local wooden boats to navigate its waterways. Ratargul offers a tranquil retreat to nature lovers, bird watchers, and adventure seekers.
