Best Time To Visit Red Canyon (Eilat) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Red Canyon, Eilat, Israel

The optimal time to visit the Red Canyon near Eilat, Israel is during the spring months (March to May) and the autumn months (September to November). During these periods, the temperatures are pleasantly warm rather than the scorching heat typical of summer, making it possible to enjoy hiking and exploring without discomfort. Spring, particularly, offers a unique opportunity to witness the desert bloom with a variety of wildflowers, adding splashes of color against the stark, red rock formations. The mild weather ensures that the trek through the narrow canyon is as enjoyable as it is memorable.

If visiting during the spring or autumn, aim for early morning or late afternoon hikes to avoid the midday sun and to experience the canyon's walls bathed in the most dramatic light - a spectacle which greatly enhances the natural beauty of the area. Also, these times provide the best chances for photography enthusiasts to capture the remarkable contrast between the bright blue skies and the warm red hues of the canyon. Avoid travelling to Red Canyon in the summer, as temperatures can soar well above 40°C (104°F), creating potentially dangerous hiking conditions. Additionally, the winter months (December to February) can also be unpredictable with occasional rainstorms that might cause flash floods, therefore making the canyon less accessible.
