By Air

By Train

- From Tokyo: Take the JR Tokaido Shinkansen to Nagoya Station, then transfer to the JR Hida Limited Express to reach Takayama Station. The journey takes about 4.5 hours.

- From Osaka: Board the JR Tokaido Shinkansen to Nagoya Station, and then switch to the JR Hida Limited Express for Takayama Station. The entire trip takes approximately 4 hours.

By Bus

- Direct Buses: There are highway buses connecting Takayama with various cities, including Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya.

From Takayama Station to Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine

- Upon arriving at Takayama Station, the shrine is a 15 to 20-minute walk. Head north towards the Shiroyama park area, following the signs to the shrine.

Tips for Visiting

- The Takayama Festival, which takes place in spring (April 14th and 15th) and autumn (October 9th and 10th), is incredibly popular, so booking accommodations in advance is highly recommended.

- Wear comfortable shoes as the area around the shrine includes uphill pathways and possibly steps.
