Samstanling Monastery, founded in the 1400s by Lama Tsultim Nima, is a scenic Tibetan Buddhist monastery located in Sumlur village in the Nubra Valley of Ladakh, India. Nestled amidst the stark and majestic mountains, the monastery is a tranquil haven and a repository of Buddhist teachings, artifacts, and colorful frescoes. Samstanling is distinguished by its gold, red, and white buildings, which stand in contrast against the earthen hues of the surrounding Himalayan landscape. It is a spiritual retreat for monks and a place for religious education. Visitors to the monastery can explore the assembly hall, known as Dukhang, containing statues of Buddha and other deities, and view the intricate wall paintings depicting various aspects of Buddhist philosophy. As one of the prominent religious sites in the region, it attracts devotees and tourists alike, who come to absorb its peaceful atmosphere and experience the unique cultural heritage of Himalayan Buddhism.
