Best Time To Visit Sandbank Trips (Maafushi) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Sandbank Trips, Maafushi, Maldives

Peak Season: November to April is the ideal time for visiting Sandbank trips in Maafushi. During these months, the weather is dry and the seas are calm, providing optimal conditions for snorkeling, swimming, and basking under the warm sun. The skies are usually clear, and the visibility underwater is at its best, making it the perfect scenario for exploring the vibrant marine life. The temperature during this period averages between 25°C to 30°C (77°F to 86°F), ensuring a comfortable tropical climate. It’s also the high season for tourism, so you might want to book your trip in advance to secure a spot on the sandbank tours. As it coincides with the Christmas and New Year holidays, the islands are particularly festive, but keep in mind that prices may be higher due to the increased demand.

Shoulder Season: May to October brings the monsoon with occasional rain showers and stronger winds, but it's still a great time for visitors who are looking for a more serene experience away from the crowds. The prices tend to be lower, and while you may have to contend with some wet weather, the rain typically comes in short, heavy bursts and is often followed by sunshine. This season can also bring some unique advantages for divers, such as the chance to see manta rays and whale sharks, which are more commonly sighted during these months due to the plankton-rich waters. Keep an eye on the forecast and be prepared for a flexible itinerary, as sometimes excursions may be subject to weather conditions.
