Best Time To Visit Selimiye Mosque (Konya) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Selimiye Mosque, Konya, Turkey

The Selimiye Mosque in Konya is not just a religious site but also a cultural landmark worthy of admiration for its Ottoman-era architecture. The best time to visit the mosque is during the spring (April to June) or autumn (September to November) months. These seasons offer a pleasant climate with moderate temperatures that make your visit comfortable and enjoyable. Visiting during these times means you will avoid the scorching heat of the summer months and the cold of the winter, thus ensuring a more pleasant experience as you explore both the interior and exterior of the historical mosque.

Moreover, during the spring and autumn months, Konya hosts several cultural festivals which could enrich your visit. One event of particular significance is the Seb-i Arus, celebrated in December, which commemorates the death of the famed Sufi mystic Rumi, but this period can be quite crowded and chilly. Thus, traveling in the shoulder seasons also allows for easier accommodation options and a chance to enjoy the city’s attractions without the peak season’s crowds. Keep in mind that the mosque is an active place of worship, so it’s recommended to plan your visit outside of prayer times, and to ensure modest clothing out of respect for the cultural and religious setting.
