The Shwe Inn Dein Pagodas are an impressive collection of ancient stupas situated near Inle Lake, within the village of Indein, in the Nyaungshwe township of Myanmar (Burma). These pagodas are set against the backdrop of the Shan Hills and are part of the larger complex of the Shwe Inn Dein Pagoda. Over time, some pagodas have become partly overgrown with bushes and vegetation, adding to the mystic allure of the place. Numerous structures show intricate carvings and delicate stucco work that has survived the test of time. The pagodas vary in design, ranging from gilded spires to earthy, moss-covered bricks. Visitors often trek to this site for its historical significance, as well as its untamed beauty. The pathway to the pagodas is lined with souvenir stalls and leads to a hill, atop which the main pagoda sits. The view from the top offers a panoramic sight of the hundreds of stupas that dot the landscape. The site is not just a tourist attraction but also a place of active worship for locals.
