The Sochi Arboretum, also known as the Dendrary, is a unique botanical garden located in the resort city of Sochi, on the Black Sea coast of Russia. Established in 1892 by Sergei Khudekov, a Russian publisher and philanthropist, the park is spread over 49 hectares of hilly terrain, offering spectacular views of the sea and the surrounding landscapes. It houses an extensive collection of rare and exotic plants, with more than 1,500 species from different parts of the world. The park's well-maintained paths and trails wind through the lush foliage, showcasing thematic sections like the Japanese Garden, the Bamboo Grove, and the Subtropical Zone. Visitors can witness a diverse range of flora, from magnolias and cypresses to cacti and orchids. The arboretum also features a number of sculptures, monuments, and follies that add a layer of cultural richness to the natural beauty. As a center of education and conservation, it plays a vital role in the study of subtropical species. The cable car ride to the top of the arboretum is a popular attraction itself, providing an aerial view of the plant collections and the city beyond.
