Suramadu Bridge, also known as the Surabaya-Madura Bridge, is a remarkable feat of engineering that connects the city of Surabaya on the island of Java to the island of Madura in Indonesia. Spanning an impressive 5.4 kilometers, it is the longest bridge in Indonesia and one of the longest in Southeast Asia. Completed in 2009, the bridge was designed to facilitate the flow of goods and passengers between the two islands, thereby boosting the economic prospects in the region. The construction consists of three parts: the causeway, the approach bridges, and the main bridge, which includes a cable-stayed section. The Suramadu Bridge has significantly reduced travel time across the Madura Strait, which was previously only possible by ferry. At night, the bridge is strikingly illuminated, becoming a visual spectacle and a point of pride for the local community. It has also turned into a tourist attraction due to the panoramic views it offers of the surrounding sea and coastline. The bridge supports both vehicular and pedestrian traffic, providing lanes for cars, motorcycles, and dedicated sidewalks for pedestrians.
Indonesia reaches the Infrastructure Age with this structure.
Amazing structure with easy off ramp connecting with the roads where you have to go in Madura. Getting there in Surabaya was rather more difficult as more signage leading to the bridge would help.

Awesome bridge but nothing on the sideā¦
I really enjoyed driving across the bridge both ways. It is an awesome structure and the dedicated scooter paths on each side are a great idea.
