Ideal visit duration: 1-2 days
Susukino is the largest entertainment district of Sapporo, the capital of Hokkaido, Japan. It's a bustling area known for its vibrant nightlife, with countless bars, restaurants, cafes, and nightclubs. Susukino is also famous for its neon lights, which create a lively atmosphere, especially at night. The area is a hub for shopping with various boutiques, electronic shops, and department stores catering to all tastes and budgets. The district hosts the Susukino Ice Festival in February, a part of the Sapporo Snow Festival, where intricate ice sculptures line the streets. Susukino's ramen alley, a narrow lane lined with small, traditional ramen shops serving Sapporo's famous miso ramen, is a must-visit for food enthusiasts. Public transportation in the area is very convenient, with several subway stations including the Susukino Station on the Namboku Line. Despite its reputation as a party district, Susukino also offers a slice of day-to-day Japanese urban life, with a range of services that cater to both residents and tourists.
