Taipei 101, formerly known as the Taipei World Financial Center, is an iconic skyscraper located in the Xinyi District of Taipei, Taiwan. Completed in 2004, this remarkable building held the title of the world's tallest until the completion of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai in 2010. Taipei 101 stands at 508 meters tall and comprises 101 floors above ground, as well as five basement levels. The tower is designed to resemble a stalk of bamboo, symbolizing strength, resilience, and growth. Its architectural style blends Asian traditions with modern design, featuring a series of eight segments that taper upward. The building's façade is composed of glass and blue-green glazed panels, representing high-tech design while referencing traditional Chinese color symbolism. Taipei 101 is renowned for its state-of-the-art technologies, including a tuned mass damper that stabilizes the tower against strong winds and earthquakes. As a mixed-use skyscraper, it houses offices, restaurants, and an observatory on the 89th to 91st floors that provides visitors with panoramic views of Taipei. The tower is a prominent landmark and holds a New Year's Eve fireworks display annually, which is a major event attracting spectators from around the globe.
