TillyaKori Madrasah is one of the most magnificent historical sites in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, located in the Registan square which is the heart of the ancient city. Here are several ways to reach TillyaKori Madrasah:
Visitors can fly into Samarkand International Airport (SKD), which serves international and domestic flights. From the airport, one can use a taxi or a pre-arranged transfer to reach the city center, which is approximately 6 kilometers away.
Samarkand is well connected by train, with services like the high-speed Afrosiyob train connecting it to cities like Tashkent and Bukhara. The Samarkand Railway Station is located around 6 kilometers from Registan Square, and it is easy to get a taxi or a local bus to reach the Madrasah.
If traveling by car or by intercity bus, Samarkand is accessible via the M37 highway which is part of the larger Asian Highway network. There are regular bus services to Samarkand from major cities in Uzbekistan. Once in the city, TillyaKori Madrasah is reachable by local taxis or public transportation.
It is advisable for international travelers to use a reliable taxi service and agree on the fare before the journey since most drivers may not speak English fluently. Public transportation is available but might be challenging for those not familiar with the local language and routes.
Remember that the Registan, including the TillyaKori Madrasah, is a pedestrian area, so vehicles can only go up to a certain point close to the complex, after which you will have to walk to the entrance of the Madrasah.
Note: Visa requirements should be checked in advance depending on your nationality, and it's recommended to have local currency (Uzbekistani Som) for small expenses and transportation.
