Tutong is one of the four districts of Brunei, located on the north coast of the island of Borneo. The district has a varied landscape that ranges from its long picturesque beaches facing the South China Sea to lush greenery and quaint kampongs, which are traditional villages. It is named after its town center, Pekan Tutong. With a multicultural population, the district is home to many mosques, showcasing the Islamic influence, and ethnic communities like the Dusun, Kedayan, Iban, and Tutong. One of the main attractions is the Tasek Merimbun Heritage Park, which features Brunei's largest natural lake, Tasek Merimbun, that becomes a sanctuary for many bird species. The park is also recognized as an ASEAN Heritage Park. Apart from natural beauty, Tutong is known for its local markets and the production of traditional goods such as handicrafts. Despite its quiet demeanor, Tutong is significant in contributing to Brunei's cultural tapestry with festivals and events held throughout the year that reflect the customs of its diverse inhabitants.
