How To Reach Wadi Tiwi (Sur) In 2026 - 2027

Traveling to Wadi Tiwi in Sur, Oman

Wadi Tiwi, known for its breathtaking views and traditional villages, is an incredible destination in the Sultanate of Oman. To reach this natural wonder, you'll need to follow these steps:

By Air

Step 1: The nearest airport to Wadi Tiwi is Muscat International Airport. Upon arrival, you will need to arrange transportation to Sur, where Wadi Tiwi is located.

By Road

Step 2: From Muscat, you can rent a car or take a bus to Sur. The drive will take approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes covering around 200 kilometers via Route 17 (Al Batinah Expressway) and Route 23.

Step 3: Upon reaching Sur, follow the signposts for Wadi Tiwi. The entrance to Wadi Tiwi is near the town of Tiwi, which borders Wadi Shab. Wadi Tiwi is accessible from the main coastal road, Highway 17 (Quriyat - Sur Coastal Road).

By 4WD Vehicle

Step 4: A four-wheel-drive vehicle is highly recommended, especially if you plan to explore deeper into the wadi. The road can be narrow, steep, and in some places only suitable for 4WD vehicles.

Local Tips:

• For the most enjoyable experience, visit during the cooler months between October and April.
• Always check the weather before your trip, as wadis can flood quickly during rainstorms.
• Local tour guides are available and can offer valuable insights and help ensure your safety.

Accommodation and Facilities

While there are no facilities in Wadi Tiwi itself, the nearby town of Sur offers a range of accommodations from hotels to guesthouses. Ensure you have enough water and supplies before heading into the wadi, as there are no shops or restaurants within the wadi.

If you require more detailed information or assistance planning your trip, consider contacting local travel agencies in Oman or the Sur tourist information center.
