Sidon Sea Castle is one of Lebanon's most famous historical sites, dating back to the 13th century. Located in the ancient city of Sidon, it rests on a small island connected to the mainland by a causeway. Here is how to reach the Western Tower:
Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport (BEY) is the closest major airport to Sidon. Upon arrival, visitors can hire a taxi or rent a car to reach Sidon, which is approximately 40 kilometers south of Beirut.
Travelers can opt for public transportation such as buses or service taxis from Beirut to Sidon. Once in Sidon, you may take a local taxi to the sea castle.
If driving from Beirut, head south on the coastal highway towards Sidon. After reaching Sidon, follow the signs toward the historic downtown and the seafront, where the Sea Castle is located.
There is a public parking area near the entrance to the causeway leading to the Sea Castle. Parking spaces may be limited during peak tourist seasons.
After parking, visitors will walk across the causeway to reach the entrance of the Sidon Sea Castle. The Western Tower will be part of the structure you can explore within the castle.
Ensure to check the latest visiting hours and the entrance fee before planning your visit as these can change seasonally. Most historical sites in Lebanon have a small entrance fee.
