Best Time to Visit Zeilad Wildlife Sanctuary, Tamenglong

Visit the Zeilad Wildlife Sanctuary in Tamenglong, Manipur, to experience nature in its most serene and verdant form. The ideal time to explore this biodiverse haven is during the post-monsoon months from October to March. During this period, the weather remains cool and pleasant, which not only makes it comfortable for travelers to hike and explore but also is the time when the flora and fauna of the sanctuary are at their most vibrant. You can witness the lush greenery, the water bodies at their fullest, and animals in their natural habitat. Moreover, it is the migratory season for several bird species, making it a perfect opportunity for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts.

As the monsoon season subsides, the heavy rains give way to clear skies and the waterfalls within the sanctuary, such as Zeilad Lake, are rejuvenated and brimming with water – a picturesque sight for visitors. However, visitors should be prepared for the occasional cold spells during the winter months of December and January, when temperatures can drop significantly. Regardless, this is the period when the sanctuary is most accessible, with the roads and pathways being dry and safe for jeep safaris and trekking. If you're keen on an immersive experience in the wilderness, remember to pack appropriate clothing, and warm layers, and carry equipment like binoculars for an up-close view of the region's abundant wildlife.
