Gulmarg, renowned for its pristine beauty and adventurous skiing opportunities, is a captivating hill station located in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. Perched at an altitude of 2,650 meters, it rests in the Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas. This town is enveloped in snow-capped mountains, lush green meadows, deep ravines, evergreen forested hills, and valleys. Gulmarg's legendary beauty, prime location, and proximity to Srinagar naturally make it one of the premier hill resorts in the country. Originally called 'Gaurimarg' by shepherds, its present name was given in the 16th century by Sultan Yusuf Shah, who was bewitched by its grassy slopes emblazoned with wildflowers. Gulmarg is an all-season destination. Winters from November to February are ideal for snow sports like skiing and snowboarding, while spring and summer months are perfect for trekking, mountain biking, and enjoying the flora. The Gulmarg Gondola, one of the highest in the world, offers a ride to the Apharwat Peak, which provides a panoramic view of the Himalayan peaks.
