Best Time To Visit Alarnath Temple Puri (Puri) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Alarnath Temple, Puri, Odisha, India

The Alarnath Temple in Puri is a significant pilgrimage destination, particularly for devotees of Lord Vishnu. The ideal time to visit this sacred temple is during the Anavasara period, which usually falls in June or July. Anavasara is the time when the deities of the famous Jagannath Temple are believed to be taking rest and are not visible to the public. During this period, Lord Jagannath is said to manifest as Lord Alarnath, and devotees flock to the Alarnath Temple to get a glimpse of the lord and seek blessings. This time coincides with the pre-monsoon season, which is characterized by hot and humid weather, but the religious significance of the period draws many visitors regardless of the climatic discomforts.

Nevertheless, if you are looking for more pleasant weather conditions, the months of October to February are generally recommended. During this time, the climate is relatively cooler and more comfortable for visiting temples and exploring the area. The winter season also coincides with several festivals, although it is less crowded compared to the Anavasara period. Visitors during this time can also enjoy various cultural events and have the opportunity to see the temple in a more relaxed atmosphere. It is beneficial to note that Odisha experiences heavy rainfall during the monsoon season from July to September, which might not be an ideal time for some tourists to visit.
