Amarapura Township is a historical city in the Mandalay region of Myanmar (Burma). Its name translates to 'City of Immortality' and it used to be the capital of Myanmar during the Konbaung Dynasty. The U Bein Bridge, the world's longest teak footbridge, is a notable landmark in Amarapura, stretching across Taungthaman Lake. The bridge is an iconic spot, especially at sunset when monks and locals cross it, providing a picturesque scene. Amarapura is also known for its Buddhist monasteries and educational institutions, reflecting the town's religious significance.
