The Astasambhu Siva Temples are a group of eight temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the temple town of Kualo (also spelled as Kialeswar) in Dhenkanal district, Odisha, India. These temples celebrate the quintessence of Shiva in a tranquil rural setting. Built around the 10th century, they represent the early phase of Kalinga architecture. Made of sandstone, the temples are adorned with intricate carvings that depict Hindu mythology. Each temple enshrines a Shivalinga named after the materials that constitute them, like Amaleswar, Taleswar, etc. The ambiance around the temples is serene, providing a spiritual retreat to visitors and devotees. Nestled in a lush greenery and on the banks of the river Brahmani, the temples stand in a row on the southern bank, offering picturesque views. They are an integral part of Odisha's rich cultural and religious heritage, reflecting the ancient artistry and spirituality of the region. Astasambhu Siva Temples are not just pivotal to religious ceremonies but also attract archaeologists and history enthusiasts.
