Kapilash Temple, also known as Kapilashram, is a revered Hindu temple located on the top of Mount Kapilash, at a height of about 2239 feet above sea level, in the Dhenkanal district of Odisha, India. It holds significant religious importance and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Constructed by the kings of the Ganga dynasty around the 12th-13th century, the temple showcases a quintessential style of Kalinga architecture with intricate carvings and a towering vimana (temple spire). The temple is surrounded by lush greenery and a plethora of flora and fauna. It can be reached by climbing 1352 steps or by a motorable road around the hill leading to its entrance. The temple complex also includes shrines dedicated to other deities including Vishnu, Hanuman, and several other gods and goddesses. The serene ambiance and panoramic view of the surrounding forests and countryside from the hilltop offer a spiritual and visual treat to visitors.
