Bagh Bhairab Temple, situated in Kirtipur, Nepal, is a shrine dedicated to the deity Bagh Bhairab, who is considered the guardian of Kirtipur. The temple stands in the heart of the old city, prominently residing on a small hill and surrounded by ancient Newar settlements. This sacred site, which appears rectangular from the outside, exhibits a three-storied roof with a facade beautifully crafted in traditional Nepalese architectural style. Inside, the temple enshrines an idol of Bagh Bhairab, believed to be a manifestation of Lord Shiva, depicted with a tiger's head. It is a center of faith and respect, attracting devotees from all around to seek blessings and attend vibrant festivals celebrated with zeal. Historically, the temple is associated with protection, and it played a significant role during battles, with warriors seeking divine help before engaging in warfare. The interior of the temple is adorned with intricate wood carvings and historical artifacts that underline the Newari craftsmanship and cultural heritage of the region.
