The Uma Maheshwor Temple, also known as the Uma Maheshwar Temple, is situated at the highest point of Kirtipur, which is an ancient city with a rich history located on a hilltop southwest of Kathmandu, Nepal. Dedicated to Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati, the temple dates back to the 17th century and is an epitome of traditional Newar architecture, featuring intricate wood carvings and a tiered pagoda-style structure. It offers a panoramic view of the Kathmandu Valley and the Himalayan range. The temple has undergone renovations after being damaged by earthquakes, most notably the 2015 quake. Around the temple, visitors can explore the ancient city of Kirtipur, with its narrow alleyways, traditional houses, and other historical temples, providing insight into the Newar culture. The place is not just a religious site but also serves as a vantage point for sightseers and photographers.
