Best Time To Visit Bao Dai Summer Palace (Dalat) In 2026 - 2027

Understanding the Bao Dai Summer Palace

The Bao Dai Summer Palace, located in the mountainous city of Dalat, Vietnam, was the summer retreat for the last emperor of Vietnam, Bao Dai. This beautiful piece of history, set amidst the cool climes of the Central Highlands, offers not only a glimpse into the regal past but also into the architectural and cultural intermingling that took place during the French colonial era. The palace is not only a historical site but also a place of tranquil beauty, surrounded by pine forests and gardens that embody the genteel elegance of a bygone era.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit the Bao Dai Summer Palace is during the dry season, which runs from November to April. During these months, the weather in Dalat is typically sunny and dry, with temperatures ranging from a comfortable 15°C to 24°C. This is perfect for exploring the palace grounds and enjoying the lush landscapes without the hindrance of rain. Additionally, the dry season is ideal for taking part in outdoor activities in and around Dalat, such as trekking, viewing waterfalls, and visiting the many flower gardens.

On the other hand, if you prefer a cooler atmosphere and less crowded experience, visiting in the early months of the dry season like November or December might be ideal. This period is just after the rainy season when the landscape is particularly vibrant and before the peak tourist season hits. Moreover, towards the end of April, you can experience the Dalat Flower Festival if it coincides with your trip. However, it’s worth noting that the Tet holiday (Vietnamese New Year) usually falls in late January or early February, which can see a surge in domestic tourists visiting the palace and other local attractions. Planning around this event can help avoid the crowds and ensure a more serene visit.
