Barelang Bridge is an iconic chain of six bridges of various types that connect the islands of Batam, Rempang, and Galang in Indonesia. Its name is derived from the first syllables of each of the three islands it connects (BA-tam, RE-mpang, and Gal-ANG). The major bridge amongst the six, the Tengku Fisabilillah Bridge, is a cable-stayed bridge and is particularly notable for its impressive engineering and aesthetic design. Conceived by BJ Habibie, the former president of Indonesia, this bridge complex was constructed to facilitate economic development in the region, spur urban expansion, and improve transport links. Visitors to the Barelang Bridge can enjoy stunning panoramic views of the sea, the horizon, and the lush island landscapes. Additionally, Barelang Bridge has become a popular spot for photography and is significant for its contribution to the local tourism industry. Oftentimes, people visit the bridge area for recreational fishing, family outings, and to witness the beautiful sunset.
