Maha Vihara Duta Maitreya Temple is one of the largest Buddhist temples in Southeast Asia, located in Batam, an island city within the Riau Archipelago of Indonesia. Opened in 1991, the temple complex is renowned for its grand and peaceful ambiance, covering an extensive area with numerous prayer halls, a dining hall, and beautiful garden spaces. Statues of Buddha Maitreya, the future Buddha in Buddhist eschatology, are prominently displayed, representing hope for a bright future. The temple's architecture is a mix of Chinese, Tibetan, and Indonesian styles, displaying intricate designs and vibrant colors that attract visitors. Devotees come to worship, meditate, and participate in festivals. Non-religious visitors are also welcomed to enjoy the serene environment, vegetarian cuisine or take part in cultural education. Maha Vihara Duta Maitreya Temple serves as a spiritual hub for the local Buddhist community and as an important cultural landmark, fostering a deeper understanding of Buddhist philosophy and traditional practices.
It was so peaceful, calm and quiet. Best place for meditation. Many Buddha statues to see and take pictures. You can spend between 15 - 30mins at this location.

For me, there was the biggest temple I met. Upper balcony had a great view to city and the cafe is recommended for its delicious local drinks with acceptable prices.
