Basar Saraswathi Temple, nestled on the banks of River Godavari in Basar, is a highly revered shrine in Adilabad district, Telangana, India. It is one of the two significant Saraswathi temples in India, the other being in Kashmir. The temple, with its tranquil ambiance amidst the lush greenery, is dedicated to Goddess Saraswathi, the deity of knowledge and learning. According to the Puranas, Maharishi Vyas and his disciples and sage Viswamitra decided to settle down in a serene location after the Kurukshetra war, and it is believed that Maharishi Vyasa came to Basar to meditate. The temple is unique as it is said to be one of the very few temples of Goddess Saraswathi in South India. Throughout the year, scores of students with their parents visit the temple to seek blessings for academic success. One can also find idols of Goddess Lakshmi and Kali in the same temple complex. The temple architecture is captivating with exquisite carvings and a serene Godavari backdrop, enhancing its ancient charm.
