Kawal Wildlife Sanctuary is a dense forest reserve in Northern Telangana, India, located at Jannaram Mandal of Adilabad district. It is one of the older sanctuaries of the country, originally established in 1965 and declared a tiger reserve in 2012. Spread over an area of 893 square kilometers, it provides an abode to a variety of flora and fauna. The sanctuary features tropical dry deciduous teak forest interspersed with bamboo, and it serves as an important habitat for several species of herbs, shrubs, and rare medicinal plants. Kawal Wildlife Sanctuary is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers, offering sightings of animals like the Indian bison, sambar deer, chital, and a plethora of bird species.
