Belfast Castle is an architectural treasure nestled on the slopes of Cave Hill County Park in Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. It offers stunning views over Belfast and Belfast Lough. Built in the 19th century, Belfast Castle, completed in 1870, stands on the site of an original Norman castle from the 12th century. The current Scottish baronial style structure was commissioned by the 3rd Marquess of Donegall. It was later passed to the Shaftesbury family, who presented it to the City of Belfast in 1934. Today, Belfast Castle is a popular attraction, hosting a visitor center, the Cellar Restaurant, an antiques shop, and beautiful gardens featuring the 'Cat Garden' with nine cat sculptures that pay homage to a local legend. The venue also offers facilities for weddings and conferences. The Castle's architecture and the surrounding parkland make it a picturesque spot for visitors to explore, relax, and learn about local history.
