Welcome to Jeita Grotto, one of Lebanon’s most stunning natural wonders. To begin your adventure with the cable car ride to the entrance of Jeita Grotto, you need to make your way to the grotto located approximately 18 kilometers north of Beirut.
If you are traveling by car, head towards the coastal highway that links Beirut with Jounieh. Follow the signs that will direct you towards Jeita Grotto, which is well indicated. There is ample parking available on site where you can leave your car and proceed to the cable car station.
Public transportation in Lebanon is mostly served by buses and service taxis. Buses from Beirut’s Dora station can take you close to Jeita. Ask the driver to let you off at the Jeita roundabout. From there, you might need to take a taxi for the short distance to the grotto's entrance, as it is not within walking distance.
Taking a taxi is perhaps the most convenient way to reach Jeita Grotto, particularly if you are unfamiliar with the local public transport system. Taxis can be hailed in Beirut and most drivers will know the way. Make sure to agree on a fare before you depart or ensure the meter is running.
Many tour operators in Beirut offer half-day trips to Jeita Grotto which include transportation to and from the grotto. This could be a hassle-free option, especially for those who prefer a guided experience.
Once you arrive on site, you can purchase your tickets before taking the cable car ride up to the entrance of the grotto. Note that the grotto is partially accessible to those with mobility impairments via the lower section, but the upper grotto can only be accessed by foot.
Make sure to check the grotto's opening hours and dress appropriately as the temperature inside the caves can be cooler. Photography is not allowed inside the caves to protect the natural formations.
Enjoy your journey to one of the most beautiful natural sites in Lebanon!
