Best Time To Visit Castelvecchio (Verona) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Castelvecchio in Verona, Italy

The ideal period to visit Castelvecchio, a historical landmark in Verona, Italy, is arguably during the spring months of April to June. During this time, the weather is pleasantly mild, and you can enjoy the charm of the castle without the discomfort of the summer heat. The temperatures range from 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F), creating perfect conditions for strolling around the castle and exploring its museum. Additionally, spring is the season when the flowers in the castle gardens are in full bloom, adding an extra touch of beauty to the medieval architecture. Moreover, visiting in spring allows you to avoid the peak tourist season of July and August, resulting in a more peaceful and intimate experience of the historical site.

If you are unable to visit during the spring, the early autumn months of September and October are also an excellent time to plan your trip. The crowds have thinned out after the summer, and the weather remains warm enough, usually ranging between 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F), to comfortably enjoy the outdoor areas of Castelvecchio. The light in autumn is often soft and golden, which makes for beautiful photographs. Additionally, this period coincides with the grape harvest, offering visitors a chance to experience the local wine culture. It's also important to note that the castle has shorter opening hours in the winter and can be quite cold, and summer can be excessively hot, so both seasons are less ideal for a visit.
