Traveling by air is not an option directly to Chi Phat as there is no airport. The nearest airport is in the town of Sihanoukville. Travelers can catch flights to Sihanoukville International Airport from various locations, including Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh.
From Phnom Penh, you can take a bus or a private taxi to the town of Andoung Tuek. The journey usually takes around 4 to 5 hours. Upon arrival at Andoung Tuek, you will take a boat to reach Chi Phat, which usually takes another 1 to 2 hours depending on the water level.
Similarly, if you are coming from Sihanoukville, you can take a bus or taxi to Andoung Tuek. The travel time is approximately 3 to 4 hours. From Andoung Tuek, you will need to take the boat to Chi Phat.
The boat trip is an essential part of the travel experience to Chi Phat and provides a scenic view of the river and surrounding forest. It’s recommended to arrange the boat transfer with your accommodation in Chi Phat or through the Chi Phat Community-Based Ecotourism office in advance. Boats usually run during daylight hours, so it's crucial to plan your arrival in Andoung Tuek accordingly.
