Chilapata Forest is a dense forest near Jaldapara National Park in the Dooars region of West Bengal, India. It acts as an elephant corridor between Jaldapara National Park and Buxa Tiger Reserve and is rich in diverse flora and fauna, including the Indian one-horned rhinoceros, leopards, elephants, and several species of birds and reptiles. The forest is also home to the ruins of a thousand-year-old fort known as Nalraja Garh, or fort of the Nal kings, believed to have been constructed during the Gupta period. The remnants of the fort are enveloped by the thick woods, adding a touch of mystery and history to the place. Chilapata Forest not only attracts nature lovers and wild life enthusiasts but also those interested in archaeology and history. The vicinity offers opportunities for jungle safaris, tribal village tours, and nature walks, providing visitors with an authentic wilderness experience.
