The Château des Ducs de Bretagne (Castle of the Dukes of Brittany) is a historical landmark and a quintessential emblem of the city of Nantes, in the Pays de la Loire region of France. This grand castle dates back to the 13th century, although its current form took shape between the 15th and 17th centuries. It served as the residence of the Dukes of Brittany and later on became a royal residence under the kingdom of France. The castle's architecture presents both medieval and early Renaissance styles. The fortress is surrounded by defensive walls punctuated by seven towers, which are accessible to the public. Inside the courtyard, the Dukes' residence contrasts with its opulent façade, adorned with flamboyant Gothic decorations.
