Type of destination: Cultural and Historical Site
Ideal visit duration: 1-2 hours
Concubine Lane, known as Lorong Panglima, is steeped in history and culture, located in the heart of Old Town Ipoh, Malaysia. Historically, it was believed to be a row where wealthy Chinese tycoons kept their mistresses in the early 1900s, hence the name. Over the years, it has turned into a vibrant tourist spot, retaining its historical façade while bustling with novelty shops, cafés, and hawker stalls, offering a mix of traditional and modern wares alongside local delicacies. The narrow, pedestrian-friendly walkway is flanked by aged buildings that exhibit charming pre-war architecture, with mural art that breathes life into the walls. It's a wonderful place to explore on foot, capturing the essence of Ipoh's bygone era while enjoying the current hipster vibe that has blossomed there. Whether browsing quirky souvenirs, savoring a bowl of aromatic Ipoh white coffee, or indulging in local treats like 'tau fu fah', Concubine Lane provides a delightful journey through time and taste.

Lunch Time Visit
It's indeed just a lane. There is a chicken rice shop at one end of the lane. Try the bean sprouts, they are special! The lane itself is not really long, filled with cafes and souvenir shops.

Worth a visit to view some history.
It has a bit of history and worth a wander for a look. There are stalls/shops either side of the lane that sell nothing special. The only shop I really enjoyed and bought something was a chinese herba..

Charming
Charming place with many retail shops, local traditional eateries and modern Instagram-able cafes. My second time here, I bought some local biscuits home for souvenirs

A visit to concubine lane
Touristy area, a lot of knick -knacks for sale. Lots of food. But expect prices to be more expensive as it is a tourist spot.
