Best Time To Visit Crab Market (Kep) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Crab Market in Kep, Cambodia

Visiting the Crab Market in Kep is an experience that is best enjoyed when the weather is favorable, and the crabs are in abundance. The ideal time to explore this vibrant marketplace is during the dry season, which spans from November to April. During this period, the skies are clear, and the humidity levels are lower, making for a comfortable environment to revel in the hustle and bustle of the market. Moreover, it is the perfect season for seafood as the waters are calmer, and the crabs are plentiful. The cool breeze from the Gulf of Thailand adds to the charm of the market during the cooler months of December and January, which many consider the peak time for a visit.

When planning your visit, it's important to note that the market is most active in the mornings. This is when local fishers bring in their fresh catch, so for the activity's buzz and the freshest seafood, aim to arrive early. However, the Crab Market is not only about craper; it's a cultural hub where travelers can immerse themselves in the local lifestyle and try various Cambodian delicacies. For an enhanced experience, time your visit to coincide with a local festival, such as the Khmer New Year in April, when the area is particularly lively and festive. However, do anticipate larger crowds during festivals and public holidays, so plan accordingly.
