Best Time To Visit Dampa Tiger Reserve (Mamit) In 2026 - 2027

Visit Dampa Tiger Reserve

Dampa Tiger Reserve, located in Mamit district of Mizoram, India, is a lush wildlife sanctuary known for its dense forests and exotic fauna. When planning a visit, timing is crucial to ensure an optimal experience. The best time to visit the reserve is during the dry months from November to March. During this period, the weather is relatively cool and pleasant, which is ideal for wildlife spotting and forest exploration. The tempered climate ensures that the animals are more active and visible as they venture out in search of water and food. Moreover, with reduced foliage and lower grass, visibility improves significantly in the forested areas.

However, it should be noted that the months of April and May can also be favorable, but these tend towards the onset of the pre-monsoon season, instigating occasional showers that might interfere with safaris and trekking. From June to September, the reserve receives heavy rainfall due to the southwest monsoon, which can make the terrain challenging and limit accessibility. Hence, for enthusiasts eager to explore the diverse wildlife, including the tigers for which the reserve is named, it is advisable to avoid the rainy season. Timing your visit correctly can massively enhance your overall experience at Dampa Tiger Reserve.
