Best Time to Visit Doyang River, Wokha, Nagaland, India

The ideal time to visit the Doyang River in Wokha, Nagaland, is during the post-monsoon months, which range from October to May. This period brings forth the river's natural beauty, offering clear skies and a lush landscape resulting from the preceding monsoon rains. The weather is pleasantly cool, especially from October to December, making it perfect for outdoor activities such as angling, picnicking, and bird watching. The river's water level stabilizes after the monsoon, making it safer for boating and other water-based activities.

Specifically, the month of November sees the arrival of the Amur Falcons, making Doyang River an exceptional spot for bird watchers and nature enthusiasts. These migratory birds travel from Siberia and use the Doyang reservoir as a stopover. This phenomenon has also turned the area into an eco-tourism hotspot. For those interested in cultural experiences, visiting during the popular Hornbill Festival held in the first week of December is highly recommended. Although it is celebrated in Kohima, it is an opportune time to experience the rich culture of Nagaland while enjoying the serene environment of the Doyang River.
