Dusit Zoo, also known as Khao Din Wana and formerly called Dusit Park Zoo, was a popular animal park in Bangkok, Thailand. Established by King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) in 1938, the zoo was sprawled across an area of 47 acres within Dusit district, adjacent to the parliamentary house and Dusit Palace. It served as both a zoo and a public park. Dusit Zoo was home to a variety of animals, featuring over 1600 domestic and international species, including rare animals like albino barking deer and white Bengal tigers. It offered an educational and recreational experience, housing a zoo museum, animal hospital, and educational center. With shaded paths, lakes, and gardens, the zoo was a calm oasis in the bustling city, providing a serene environment where visitors could stroll and enjoy the wildlife. Children's playgrounds and boat pedaling were also available. Unfortunately, after years of financial struggles and concerns regarding space and animal welfare, Dusit Zoo closed its doors permanently in September 2018, with plans to relocate the animals and develop a more modern public park or zoo elsewhere in Bangkok.
