How To Reach EastWest/WestEast Sculpture By Richard Serra (Al Shahaniya) In 2026 - 2027

Reaching the East-West/West-East Sculpture by Richard Serra in Al Shahaniya, Qatar

Rent a Car: The most convenient way to reach the East-West/West-East Sculpture is by private vehicle. Car rentals are available at Hamad International Airport or within the city of Doha. Once you have a car, navigate towards the Al Shahaniya region, which is approximately a 60-minute drive west from Doha on the Dukhan Highway.

Driving Directions: Head along the Dukhan Highway until you reach the turn-off for the sculpture. There are road signs indicating the direction to the sculpture, also known as the Richard Serra Art Piece. Turn off at these signs and follow the unpaved track for the final stretch to the installation.

Taxi or Ride-hailing Service: Hiring a taxi or using a ride-hailing service like Uber or Careem is a good alternative if you prefer not to drive. Make sure to arrange a ride back, as it might be challenging to find transportation from the remote sculpture location.

Guided Tours: Consider booking a guided tour that includes the East-West/West-East Sculpture in its itinerary. This not only provides transportation but also offers additional insights into the artwork and its significance.

Public Transport: Public transport options are limited and do not provide direct access to the installation. Using public transport may only be feasible if you plan to get near the area and then switch to a taxi.

Important Considerations: Since the sculpture is located in a remote desert area, be prepared with plenty of water, sun protection, and a fully charged phone. The best visiting times are early morning or late afternoon to avoid the desert heat.

Lastly, always check the opening times and any visitor regulations in place before planning your visit to ensure the site is accessible on the day of your journey.
