Ideal visit duration: 3-4 hours
Edge of the World, officially known as Jebel Fihrayn, is an awe-inspiring natural landmark located approximately 90 kilometers from Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia. This stunning escarpment offers panoramic views of the arid plains below, resembling the surface of the moon and providing a striking contrast to the urban sprawl of Riyadh. The geological formation is part of the longer Tuwaiq cliff which extends over 600 kilometers. Standing atop the Edge of the World, visitors are met with the dramatic sight of cliffs plunging abruptly, creating an illusion of a flat earth ending abruptly. The area is rich in fossil remains and has trails leading to the edge where visibility on a clear day can span for great distances. The stark, natural beauty of the site attracts hikers, photographers, and those seeking a unique outdoor experience. Due to its remote location, the journey to get there requires a sturdy vehicle, preferably a 4x4, and a drive through rocky desert terrain. There are no facilities available, so visitors must bring their own supplies and take caution while exploring.
