No signboards to really explain anything
Known originally as ‘Hisar-e-Firoza’, this large palace complex was built by the Sultan Firoz Shah Tughlaq in 1354 CE. It consists of various palace buildings, stables, a Diwan-e-Aam (Hall of Public Audience), hamaam (or bath chambers), a mosque (the Lat ki Masjid), granary, and other buildings. Unfortunately, except for the Lat ki Masjid, nothing is signposted, so you wander through with no idea of which building is supposed to be what. There are no guides around either, so all you can do is get a feel of how vast this place once was. No entry fee is charged for the palace complex. Note that Google Maps incorrectly shows the entrance to the palace complex as being through a narrow lane branching off from the main road. The correct entrance is on the main road, very close to a large bulging bastion beside a foot overbridge.

Poorly maintained by Archaeological Dept
Visited Hisar in first week of June and thought of visiting some historic monuments. Found this fort as one of the landmarks in Hisar but found the entire place as ill maintained, needs urgent attention of the Govt of Haryana to make it more visible and attractive for tourists. They must place some road signages for giving clear directions.

Firoz Shah Palace Complex
Firoz Shah Palace Complex is located in front of Hisar Bus Stand and the palace, known as Hisar-i-Firuza is a synthesis of Islamic architecture and Indian architecture fused together. It is well maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India. Must see place.

Feroz Shah's Palace, 11 Feb'17
11 February, 2017. Our team of five was on official work to the city of Hisar in Haryana. One of us was a history buff: he had read that the name of the place had come from the word `fort', and that it was `Hisar-e-Feroz', or the fort of Feroz. `Feroz' referred to one of the rulers of the Tughlaq dynasty in Delhi, Feroz Shah Tughlaq. We were rather interested to see a fort constructed by one of the emperors at Delhi, quite some distance away from the capital. We were told that it was located quite close to the bus stand. The place was co-located with the Lat-ki-Masjid, and some distance away from the other attraction of the place, the Gujari Mahal. The place has been renovated well, and some parts are still being renovated. The imposing gateway welcomes visitors to the medium-sized complex, full of tunnels, and sub-terranean passage-ways. The construction is primarily of rubble stone, with the Lat ki Masjid being a primarily red sandstone structure. Overall, a visit worth it.
