Goris Rock Forest, also known as the Stone Pyramids of Goris, is a breathtaking natural wonder located in the town of Goris in the Syunik Province of Armenia. This unique geological formation consists of hundreds of tall, cliff-like rock structures known as hoodoos. These natural towers have been sculpted over millions of years by weathering and erosion, giving the landscape an otherworldly appearance. The formations vary in size and shape, some reaching up to 30 meters in height, and are often compared to a stone forest. The site is a haven for nature enthusiasts, photographers, and hikers. Goris Rock Forest is also rich in history, with ancient cave dwellings carved into some of the rocks that date back to medieval times. Visitors can explore these historic caves, some of which were inhabited up until the 20th century, providing a glimpse into the area’s past. The rock forest is easily accessible from the charming town of Goris, which also offers a selection of cultural experiences, traditional Armenian architecture, and warm hospitality.
Some lovely locals showed us their back yard. So nice of them they fed us and were incredibly nice! The rocks are fantastic.
