Halliday Island Wildlife Sanctuary is a part of the Sundarbans Reserve Forest in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is named after a British colonial official and is one of the several protected forests in the Sundarbans area. Halliday Island covers a relatively small area and is renowned as a last retreat for the endangered Bengal Tiger, and houses numerous species of birds, spotted deer, and other wildlife. The lush mangrove forests serve as a critical area for conservation efforts and are interconnected by a network of rivers and streams. Being a part of the world’s largest delta formed by the Ganges, Brahmaputra, and Meghna rivers, Halliday Island provides visitors with a unique opportunity to explore India's rich biodiversity and witness the battle for conservation first-hand. The fragile ecosystem of the island supports a region that's both biologically diverse and environmentally significant.
